Oracle Database Management System (SUBP) has very advanced capabilities for statistical data processing in BP itself.
This means that the data does not have to be extracted from BP into some (other) statistical tool, e.g., a tool that works with R language, and then returned to BP, but the data are processed directly in BP, which speeds up the processing repeatedly.
Some of these features, such as working with the R language directly in BP, exist only in more expensive editions of the Oracle database, i.e. in the Enterprise edition (EE), or in EE upgraded with additional options (which are paid separately over EE).
But there are also powerful statistical SQL functions that can be used in any edition of the Oracle database, which means in the Standard edition, as well as in the free XE edition.
